Adele Jergens, the most recognized and famous actress in America is known as the Miss World Fairest of 1939 in the New York World's Fair. Lima began her modeling career after she entered a contest for an acquaintance who didn't want to compete on her own. In the Ford Supermodel of Brazil Model Search, she took home the first prize in the age group of fifteen. Elite Model Management signed her to a contract in New York City, where she stayed until 1997. The following year she made her debut in the runway of Anna Sui's New York Fashion Week. Lima has walked runways for a variety of designers over the years, including Fendi and Vera Wang Christian Dior to Miu Miu. Lima was featured on the cover of Marie Claire Brazil in 1998. In 1999, she joined Victoria's Secret Angel, and later received her Vogue debut issue.
